Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend  Next Entry
so i've been running regularly lately and i plan on continuing to do so but my shins are effing killing me. i've just been running around my neighborhood and i think i'm just not used to running on pavement b/c the rest of me is doing totally ok (except the one day that i spontaneously got asthma). i'm pretty sure all i need to do is invest in some new sneakers (being that the ones i currently run in are my track sneakers from 10th grade haha). but i am poor to the max and don't want to spend like $160. so i just wanted some input what are comfy running shoes that are not super expensive? any ideas?

I may the only person in the world who believes this, but if you could find a pair of Saucony sneakers, those are awesome. I got mine like three years ago and have ran literally thousands of miles in them in rain, snow and all kinds of other crap and they still have held together and still feel pretty good. Plus I bought them for like $25.

Running on pavement does suck, by the way. No matter what kind of shoes you get, maybe you should get some of those insertable insoles for the shoes, just to give yourself some more padding. I starting using them in my running shoes about a year ago and I feel like my legs feel better afterwards for it.

you're not the only person i have had tell me sauconys are awesome but i didn't know about running in them. they are def on my list to check out... at the top of the list for that price.

i have these freak insoles from the effing podiatrist i don't know what is wrong with me it totally didn't occur to me to try putting those in my shoes. (RIT graduate right here.... brilliant)

I like Sauconys, but they don't really have enough heel support for me. They are a good lightweight weekend shoe for me. I think New Balance's are pretty much the best you can get. I also like ASICS... I just got a pair of Nike+ (iPod sport kit compatible) shoes, and you can get them for $75-130. You can easily "hack" any pair of running shoes to put the little transmitter in it for the sport kit, but it's just nice to be able to stick it in the heel of a Nike+.

i have a pair of new balance but mine wore out really weird and are pretty much unwearable now which pisses me off hahaha. i would like the nike+ but i don't know if i'm willing to drop $75 on shoes plus then the ipod kit thing.

There's a store across from where Cohoe's used to be in Pittsford where they'll like, examine your feet and ask about your running habits and direct you towards a good shoe for you. I went there when I ran x-country in high school and got really bad tendonitis in my ankles.

Mine are Asics and they work really well with an insertable cushion thingie.

heather, my friend's parents run a running store out in victor. they'll analyze your run o a treadmill, ask you about your running habits, and suggest your perfect shoes, just like the store ian's talking about, only...my friend's parents own it and will probably cut us a deal. :D let me know when you want to go.
